Electro Woman and Dyna Girl – Then, When and Now!

The super stoner Krofft Brothers, Sid and Marty may have given you nightmares with their whimsical but super creepy H.R.Puffinstuff, but most of you won’t remember Electro Woman and Dyna Girl.

The show was meant to be a send up spoof of the 1966 Batman series, but didn’t last past its 16 episode “season”. It appeared as segments of the Krofft Supershow that also brought you Schlepp the Wonder Bug (a spoof of Herbie the Love Bug). Here was the trailer for the original Krofft series:

It was pretty hokey, but all things Krofft and/or 70s pretty much were.

Then in 2001 someone thought it would be a good idea to reboot it as an adult themed tongue in cheek look at Electro Woman, now a washed up alcoholic cougar in a trailer park played by my Night Court Crush Markie Post, and a new potential Dyna Girl who tries to get her back on her feet. It had an unaired pilot, but thanks to the wonder of the Internet and 31 Flavours, nothing stays hidden. They always find out.

Fortunately it was killed with fire before it actually happened. The Krofft Brothers picked a bad week to go cold turkey.

But now, we might have a remake that is worthy of whatever was wonderful about Electro Woman and Dyna Girl. Internet darlings Grace Helbig and Hannah Hart have made the leap from YouTube to…. other online produced media content with a reboot of the series with some muscle behind them like Legendary Pictures’ web content division.

These two are infectiously funny and their individual channels are so worth watching. This looks like a lot of fun. I can’t wait.
