Scarlett Johansson has been the face of our favourite Russian Superspy turned Avenger, but it’s time to take on another iconic powerful female character. This time another comic books that was adapted into the classic Ghost in the Shell Anime.
Hollywood Reporter Confirms:
The actress has signed on to star in the anime-based, live-action thriller, The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed. Rupert Sanders (Snow White and the Huntsman) will direct from a script written by Bill Wheeler.
Originally Kōkaku Kidōtai, Ghost in the Shell set in mid 21 Century Japan, story revolving around Mobile Armored Riot Police. Scarlett will be playing Major Motoko Kusanagi, who’s body is replaced by a fully cybernetic form who suffers from cyberattacks to get her to do their willing.
I think returning to the themes of Ghost in the Shell during a time where we are dealing with the threat of cyberattacks lately. And I think Scarlett will play the emotionally distant and detached Motoko.
And she will likely look pretty flattering in the shapely feminine cybersuit!
