It looks like the younger versions of the “present day” X-Men have been cast for the 80s-centric X-Men Apocalypse.
Sophie Turner (Sansa Stark in Game of Thrones) will be taking on the role of the Young Jean Grey. I like this not just because of her natural red hair, but because I feel the actress really has the ability to portray the shy vulnerability that a young scared Jean Grey will likely have.
Tye Sheridan (Mud, Tree Of Life) will be a young Cyclops/Scott Summers. Not only does he have a very charming good look to him, he also has that wavy coif of hair that will give a lot of definition to the parts of his face will will be able to see outside of his ruby quartz visor.
Alexandra Shipp (Aaliyah: The Princess of R&B) will be Storm, and while I know very little about this actress she has to be better than Halley Berry’s empty and emotionless Ororo Monroe. Perhaps this prequel will explain why Storm seems to lack a personality in the future storylines.
And Lastly Oscar Isaac (Star Wars VII The Force Awakens) will be playing the menacing En Sabah Nur and the resulting Apocalypse. I don’t know if this film version of Apocalypse will be played by a real man or a CGI figure, but considering the very young X-Men, even a full grown adult could appear to be intimidating to them. I kind of hope they leave him “man sized” for this chapter and perhaps later have him return alongside Sinister as the shape changing techno-organic menace that he appears as in the comics.
What do you think of the casting?
Who do you think will be playing the Four Horsemen. I would assume they too will be in the film.
