The latest rumour concerning the Han Solo: A Star Wars Story was that Woody Harrelson was joining the cast. It turns out that Rumour was true!
CNet offers:
Han Solo’s early years will reach the big screen with a little help from Woody Harrelson, the versatile actor who has appeared in films as diverse as “The Hunger Games” and “The People vs. Larry Flynt.”
I find it ironic that they point out Harrelson’s diverse film history in a role that sounds like it would be quite similar to his Hunger Games character Haymitch Abernathy. The presumed role Harrelson will play in Han Solo: A Star Wars Story will be that of a pirate/smuggler who acts as a mentor to a young Han Solo. While that doesn’t mean he will be a washed up alcoholic, his “seasoned smuggler who teaches Han everything he knows” does seem to have a fairly strong parallel.
Let’s see who or how Harrelson is going to play out in this.
